Turkish tipping is cash-based and modest: 5-10% in restaurants, nothing at a tea stand or on a dolmus. The word for it is bahşiş.

Hotels and restaurants add 10% service plus tax, and that money often doesn't reach the staff. A little cash directly to the person does.

5-10% in cash is normal in restaurants. Tea and simit stands, dolmus rides and taxis get nothing beyond rounding up.

How much do you tip in Turkey?

5-10% in restaurants with table service. Hotel staff and porters get small notes, and hamam attendants around 10-15%.

Cash or card for tips in Turkey?

Cash, and in lira. Card terminals rarely have a tip field, and a tip left in euros or dollars is inconvenient for the person receiving it.

Do you tip taxi drivers in Turkey?

Round the fare up to a convenient figure. Nothing more is expected for a normal ride.
