Peruvian tipping is around 10% in restaurants aimed at visitors, and considerably less in everyday local places. Guides on the Inca Trail and in the Sacred Valley are a category of their own.

Check the bill for 'propina' or 'servicio' before adding anything — some places include it, and a few add it twice if you're not looking.

How much do you tip in Peru?

10% at restaurants with table service. A menú del día in a local place carries no expectation at all.

How much do you tip a trekking guide in Peru?

On a multi-day trek, guides, cooks and porters are tipped as a group at the end — commonly 50-80 soles per trekker per day split across the team. Your operator will usually brief you.

Is there a service charge in Peru?

Tourist restaurants sometimes add 10% service plus 18% IGV tax. Check the bill before adding more.
