Tipping guide

Tipping in Jamaica

Jamaican restaurants often add 10-15% service, and the resort question dominates everything else: many all-inclusives have a no-tipping policy that staff quietly hope you will ignore.

Common questions

How much do you tip in Jamaica?

10-15% at restaurants where no service charge has been added, and $2-5 a night for housekeeping.

Do you tip at Jamaican all-inclusive resorts?

Some brands have a strict no-tipping policy, others encourage it. Where it is allowed, a few US dollars to bartenders and housekeeping is normal and appreciated.

Should I tip in Jamaican dollars or US dollars?

Both circulate in tourist areas. US dollars are readily accepted; Jamaican dollars are more practical for the recipient outside the resorts.
