PackMyTrip – Data Privacy
This page explains how PackMyTrip handles your data and privacy.
Summary
PackMyTrip is designed to minimize personal data. We do not create user accounts. Core app data (such as trips, items, and favorites) is stored in Google Firebase when sync is enabled.

What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads inside the app.
What We Use
To improve the product and keep PackMyTrip running, we use limited third‑party services that may process data under their own privacy terms:
- Firebase (Google): Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Remote Config
- Google Analytics: Analytics on both our website and within certain in‑app web content
- Amazon Associates: Affiliate links in both our website and app content
- OpenAI: Select features may use AI to suggest content; prompts are sent to OpenAI for processing
We operate from Europe and aim to follow GDPR principles. Where required, data is processed on the basis of legitimate interest or consent.
App Data
Your lists and trip details are stored on your device and, when sync is enabled, in Firebase (Google). We use this data only to provide app functionality (create, update, and sync your packing lists). We do not sell this data. Data in transit is protected via HTTPS.
Tracking and Analytics
We use aggregated, pseudonymized analytics to understand feature usage and reliability. In the app we use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, and Remote Config. On the website and in certain in‑app web content we use Google Analytics. This helps us improve PackMyTrip without building personal profiles.
Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT): If any feature requires tracking across apps or websites using the device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), we will request your permission via the iOS ATT prompt. If you decline, tracking is limited and only essential, non‑IDFA analytics continue.
International Data Transfers
We operate from the EU and aim to keep processing within the EU where practical. Some providers may process data outside the EU. We seek providers that offer appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where applicable.
Legal basis in the EU: We rely on legitimate interests to perform essential analytics and improve app reliability. Where consent is required (e.g., ATT‑related tracking or certain cookies), we obtain consent first and honor your choices.
Amazon Associates disclosures: Affiliate links may result in us receiving a commission when you make a qualifying purchase. Clicking an affiliate link may allow Amazon to set cookies or similar identifiers in accordance with their policies.
